More than a Million Nazi Troops Attacked Poland

On the other side of the world from the United States, in the early morning hours of September 1, 1939, more than a million Nazi troops brutally attacked Poland. Hitler delighted in staging a battle between the Nazis and Polish troops. The Nazis wore the uniform of the Polish military and so it appeared that the Poles provoked the heinous attack of September 1st. #WorldWar2 #1September1939  #wthlovefrompoland  #historicalfiction

"With Love From Poland"

The first book by Linda Lee Keenan is “With Love From Poland.” It’s a novel about friends and family in Cracow (old spelling) who form an underground group to escape Poland. They make plans under the very noses of the Nazis. Could they be clever enough to outwit their attackers? This small group named “Acorn Park” used some of the same tactics that had been used successfully during other wars to thwart the enemy.

Tension Mounts

The tension mounts when Helena, the leader of Acorn Park is confronted by a Nazi commander as she makes final escape plans. She manages to intimidate the Nazi while she is wearing a Nazi uniform.

“. . . Especially recommended for readers of other literature of the times, such as ‘The Diary of Anne Frank’ “  —Midwest Book Review

"The Journal"

Keenan’s second book is also based on the history of the Second World War. “The Journal” is a novel that explores how a Swedish diplomat, Per (“Pare”) Lundgren assisted Europeans to escape Nazi death camps by combining forces with the Germans in Berlin against the Nazis. There they formed a resistance group named “Blue Tango.”  They conducted missions into Poland and France and saved many civilians.

While Per saved so many, he was not able to save his own baby from being kidnapped by the Nazis. He would be cut down in the prime of his life before finding the child.

Decades Later

Decades later Per’s niece, Julia Hamilton, researched her family roots and discovered her Uncle Per. She began writing a journal that described Per’s exploits in Europe during World War II. Ultimately, she would attempt to find her cousin, Per’s daughter, who had been kidnapped and would be more than 70 years old, if she was still alive. Somewhere.
